I am hoping to start building a bouldering wall in my garage soon. From what I can figure it will be 8ft tall by 12 feet long. There will be a 30 degree overhang at one end with a 10-15 degree overhang in the middle and a vertical wall at the other end. I found a really cool program that Google has called Google Sketch. It is really simple to use and I can whip up the sheeting plans for a wall in about 5 to 10 minutes! If you are going to build a wall of your own you should check out Google Sketch. I think that I will detail the build on my site as a DIY topic, like when I built the splitboard. If anyone has advice on building a wall please pitch in and help me out!

The first round of construction went very well. I didn't run into any real big problems. I will hopefully getting the materials to start the second section of wall within the next week. I want to try and have it finished by the end of my spring break, because once school has started again, I won't have much time to spend building. If anyone else has their own home wall that they have built, I would be interested to see some photos!

I have the second section of wall finished now. I will try and get some photos up on the page hopefully tonight. I decided to change it up a little from the original plan. Since my steep wall only turned out to be 20 degrees it seemed kinda pointless to have a 10 degree wall. The angles are just so close, it wouldn't seem much different than the 20 degree section. What I did for the second section was keep the 20 degree overhang for the first 4 feet, and then tuned it to vertical. I think that it will be much more interesting than one flat wall. All I really have left to do is frame the vertical wall which will probably be 6ft wide by 8 feet tall.

I took a photo of the second section of wall that I built, and posted it on the page. I will be getting the plywood and the remaining framing lumber for the wall this week. I am thinking for the third section I might make it adjustable in angle. If the wall were adjustable I would be able to use it vertical or angle it back to about a 45 degree angle for doing system training. If anyone has built a variable angle wall I would like to know what worked or didn't work!

I will be picking up my plywood on sunday for the wall, so hopefully I will be able to work on sheeting everything in the next week. I did receive the t-nuts, and hopefully 500 is enough... I also ordered a few holds from threeballclimbing.com they sent me a sample hold with my t-nut order and they are nice holds, so we will see what the others are like when they get here. For the sheeting, I think that I am going to start with the easy sections like the front faces first and finish with capping the sides of the overhang walls and the more difficult corners.

It has been a while since I have posted my progress. Here is a quick update. I got 6 sheets of plywood and have installed t-nuts and sheeted the 20 degree wall and the 20 degree to vertical wall. Tonight I also sheeted the bottom half of one of the vertical walls. I am aiming to have the rest of the vertical walls sheeted later this week. More pictures to come soon!
